The Devonport Touch Association's 40th year of operation has kicked off with a fresh start thanks to Costa Group continuing with its naming rights sponsorship.
Devonport Touch Association (DTA) President Matthew Bowles said: “The DTA was thrilled to partner with Costa as its naming rights sponsor.
“Costa is a significant and well respected local employer and is renowned for its quality fresh produce. Having a business with Costa’s reputation on board is greatly appreciated by our members.
“Costa Group’s sponsorship is significant as the DTA will be celebrating its 40th year this summer season.
“Over the journey hundreds if not thousands of local people have played touch football with many going on to represent Tasmania at national championships and Mark Holloway achieving the highest possible honour representing Australia.
“This season’s highlight will be our 40th Anniversary Dinner on Saturday 23rd November. Past and present players and officials are invited to attend and can find out more information on the DTA facebook page.
“Competition kicks off next week and it is not too late for people to join up with teams. We offer men’s, women’s, mixed and junior competitions."
Costa Berries Regional Manager Mr Cameron Folder said Costa was pleased to continue its involvement with the DTA.
“Costa Berries has a large presence in the Devonport area, employing around 1600 during our peak harvest season," Mr Folder said.
“Costa’s Tasmanian berry farms cover up to 220 hectares in the north-west and we produce between 60 to 70 per cent of the state’s blueberries. We also operate the East Devonport Distribution Centre, which is capable of receiving and dispatching around 9000 tonnes of fruit a year.
“Costa has a strong commitment to supporting our local communities through sponsorships and other activities.
“There is a natural synergy between Costa and the Touch Association. We grow high quality fresh produce that aims to support a healthy diet and lifestyle.
“The DTA provides an outlet for active sport and recreation for individuals and families in the Devonport region and it seemed a perfect fit for Costa to partner with the Association.
“We congratulate the Association on their 40th anniversary and look forward to its continued success.”
