The Costa Tomato Category supplies consumers with fresh and flavoursome vine-ripened Australian tomatoes all year round.
We supply premium glasshouse tomatoes across the snacking, specialty, cocktail and large truss segments, via all major and independent supermarkets and green grocers.
At Costa we listen to our consumers and retailers, and together we respond to the emerging trends and changing needs of the market. We are constantly looking to innovate in all areas of protected cropping technologies with the aim of creating a more sustainable environment for our fruit, our people and the communities that we serve.
Our tomatoes are grown in one of Australia’s largest and most advanced glasshouse facilities, located in the New South Wales town of Guyra. Our glasshouses are perfectly situated to harness the best growing conditions nature can offer thanks to Guyra’s unique micro climate.
We also grow our tomatoes in South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia through our grower alliance partners, to provide a national footprint and consistent 52-week supply to our customers.
In total, our current Guyra glasshouses have 302,400 square metres (30.22ha) of growing area (approximately 12 AFL football fields) and at peak production hold more than one million plants.
To accommodate our continued business growth, a $67 million expansion project is planned, which will increase our production area by 33 per cent to 40ha and include a 2.5ha propogation nursery, and create an additional 150 jobs onsite. The expansion project will bring our Guyra onsite operation to:
- 40ha of glasshouse
- 2.5ha propagation nursery
- two large packing facilities
- more than 800 staff.
Our state-of-the-art glasshouse technology and growth program puts Costa Tomatoes at the forefront of innovation in ecologically sustainable practices and sets us apart in the fruit and vegetable industry.

Where we grow
For a business such as ours to be successful in a regional area, it is important to work cooperatively and productively with the local community. Aside from providing employment and economic benefit, we also aim to actively supporting the social fabric of the community via our Community Engagement program. To date this has included a range of support for local sporting groups, disadvantaged members of the community, local schools and community organisations and events in the region.
We particularly recognise the importance of supporting education in the area and encouraging local young people to pursue a career in the field of agriculture. In recent years we have established a Tertiary Scholarship targeting local Year 12 school students commencing university, an annual Graduate Grower program and a number of apprenticeships/traineeships in our key business areas.
From 2020, a new Scholarship will commence to provide recognition and financial assistance to an outstanding undergraduate or Masters student enrolled at the University of New England seeking a career in horticulture.
