Australia’s leading mushroom grower announces increased production capacity across its growing network

Australia’s leading mushroom grower, Costa Group has recently increased its weekly production capacity by an additional 40 tonnes of fresh mushrooms per week.

“This increase demonstrates Costa’s commitment to further investing in the Australian mushroom industry and guaranteeing year-round supply of quality, white and brown mushrooms, from across our growing network of facilities in South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia,” said Blair Gibbs, General Manager, Costa Mushrooms.

Costa’s Monarto, South Australia facility is one of the most advanced mushroom-growing sites in the Southern Hemisphere.  Together with farms at Mernda in Victoria, and Casuarina in Western Australia, Costa can supply mushrooms within 24 hours of harvest across the country, guaranteeing access to fresh, quality mushrooms 52 weeks of the year.

“An additional 40 tonnes of mushrooms, equates to an extra 2 million individual mushrooms per week, to be enjoyed by mushroom lovers across Australia,” said Mr Gibbs.

As the largest grower and pre-packer of mushrooms in Australia, Costa mushrooms are sold under the MushBoom brand, and available at all major retailers in private label own brand.
