Apprenticeships
We support apprenticeships across our business, enabling apprentices to receive on-the-job experience whilst attending specialist training with registered and accredited training organisations to achieve nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships last for three to four years before a full qualification in the trade is attained.
Nationally accredited training programs, based on units of competency, are offered in various trade apprenticeships and are run in conjunction with numerous accredited training providers. Programs are aimed to develop skills that are highly relevant and trade specific.
Across the business, there are a wide range of trade roles including boiler makers, fitters, mechanics, electricians, welders and plumbers. We recognise that diversity in the experience of our teams helps us to grow and continually improve.
Meet Craig Hedges
Production Supervisor, Mushroom Category
I was hired as a Production Supervisor in the Mushroom Category, however I have always had a passion for all things electrical. In 2014, I approached the management team for advice on furthering my career here, and they suggested a different path into the maintenance team as an electrical apprentice.
When I was 17, I missed the opportunity to become an electrical apprentice, so when this was suggested, I jumped at the opportunity. I have now recently qualified as an electrician and the support shown by Costa during this time has been exceptional.
I feel so grateful, very privileged to be a part of this company.

Meet Carol Mortensen
Carol completed a Certificate III in Production Horticulture with TAFE Digital while working as a Horticultural Assistant at Costa’s Tolga Berry Farm in Far North Queensland. She is now working as a Senior Horticulturalist.
Growing up on a farm with corn fields and cattle in Upper Barron, Malanda region, I have always had an interest in the great outdoors and wanted to further my studies, as my major and most enjoyable subjects at school were biology and chemistry.
When I started working at Costa in April 2017, my interest in plants was accentuated and I wanted to learn more technical skills related to crop growing.
My career aspirations quickly became horticulture focused and I enquired about training in the company. When offered to study an online Certificate III in Production Horticulture with TAFE Digital, I said yes immediately.
