Berries

Costa is the country’s leading berry producer with multiple sites across Australia, growing blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries.

Knowing that Australians love to enjoy berries all year round, Costa has worked hard to develop a 52-week solution for our flavoursome berries.

We have more than 720 hectares of farm land in Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania and Western Australia.

The Costa Berry Category is at the forefront of genetic and growing innovation. In all that we grow, we are committed to sustainable production and growing and food safety is paramount.

Across our regions of operation, Costa Berries is a major employer. Our Corindi farm harvests for 52 weeks of the year, whereas our other farms harvest for between two months and nine months. We employ people from across the world in a diverse range of roles, from horticulture and agribusiness to professional support services, on both a casual and permanent basis. We provide support and development through training and on-the-job support, demonstrating that people really are at the heart of the Costa business.

Our berries are marketed under the Driscoll’s brand in Australia. Through this valued partnership with Driscoll’s, we invest in ongoing research and development to continually improve farming practices and the quality of our produce.

Farm to family

We nurture our berries throughout the entire growing and harvesting process to ensure that only the freshest berries are delivered to grocers, supermarkets and other retailers.

A plump, juicy berry needs careful tending throughout the growing process. That’s what our experienced berry team is here for. From propagation to harvest, our berries are cultivated and cared for by a very diligent team of growers.

Every single berry we sell has been gently hand-picked and inspected. Then, they are carefully packaged, weighed and dispatched to their destination.

Berry brands

Through our partnership with these quality brands, we source and supply the freshest berries to local and international markets.

Driscoll’s Australia

Driscoll’s Australia is a partnership between Costa and Driscoll’s Strawberry Associates, Inc (US). It markets Costa-grown berries throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Driscoll’s is renowned for the quality of its berries. They look and taste better than any other berries on the market. Leading the way in berry genetics, the company’s R&D and breeding programs develop the world’s best varieties of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Costa’s own blueberry genetics are marketed under the Driscoll’s brand throughout the US.

In Australia, Driscoll’s Australia runs Berry Patch – a category management program that aims to provide the 52-week supply of best-quality berries to Australian consumers. To achieve this, the company innovates in all areas of berry growth, including:

  • Production planning
  • Production techniques
  • Varietal development
  • Quality of fruit
  • Post harvest practice

And, to help achieve 52-week supply, Driscoll’s Australia growers are located in various growing climates including:

  • Woolgoolga NSW
  • Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg and Stanthorpe QLD
  • Northern Tasmania
  • Yarra Valley VIC
  • Bullsbrook and Pemberton WA

Driscoll’s Australia works hard to add value to all partners and growers it works with. Growers benefit through field support, agronomy and post harvest support services, as well as the partnership’s category management and production planning expertise.

Driscoll’s Australia also strives to develop and strengthen relationships with overseas growers. There is a strong focus on professional development and cultural exchange, with the partnership having access both to local and international personnel.
