    Meet the Aussies helping

Many of us come for the experience, others for a change of scene, some even turn a job at Costa into a fruitful career.

Read on to see the stories behind the berries.

Meet David Logistics and Warehouse Lead

David applied to be a picker but went straight into supervising harvest crews. After spending a couple of months supervising he moved into the coordinator’s role. Today he’s the Logistics and Warehouse Lead in Tasmania.

A Mechanical Engineer by trade, David has gained skills he’d never had a chance to develop in previous jobs.

“The work does take you out of your comfort zone, but it keeps you engaged and challenged. Even with my engineering background, I find this work really rewarding. It’s refreshing to be in such a diverse and accepting workforce.”

    Meet Blaine Raspberry Farm Manager

Blaine started at Costa in 2012, half-way through Year 12. Since then he’s worked his way up from farm work at Sulphur Creek, in Tasmania, to supervisor, assistant foreman, and then foreman.

Today, he’s the Far North Queensland Regional Manager. He attributes much of his success to the role models and internal development programs at Costa.

“When I first started I didn’t think there was a future in the work, but it is such a big company. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and a bit of hard work, it is definitely a place you can make a career.”

    Meet Emma Horticulturist

Our 2016 Costa North-West Honours Scholarship recipient, Emma completed a research project with us before joining the team as a horticultural technical assistant – just four days after finishing her last exam.

It’s been a busy four years. But all that hard work has paid off.

Emma has landed her dream job as raspberry horticulturist.

“I love working at Costa, there’s a great support network and heaps of opportunities. The dynamic nature of the role means that I will always be learning.”

    Meet Will University Student

Will began a computer science degree this year, did his first season with Costa last summer, and can’t wait to return for Harvest 2020.

The job has everything he needs.

It’s easy to apply for, keeps him busy over the summer, boosts his finances, and gives him the opportunity to meet and work alongside some great people.

“It is a lot of hard work but you get rewarded for the effort you put in. You have got to get in the mindset and push yourself. I’m really looking forward to getting back there.”
